Who we are

Shaped by Hand — Crafted for Waves

Four handmade wooden bodyboards by The Drop — full lineup

We make small batch alaias and wooden bodyboards based on traditional Hawaiian Paipos and UK Bellyboards.

We use sustainably sourced timber to shape boards that are fun, fast and built to last.

Our boards are made from our love of the ocean for ocean connection, whether you're catching your first wave or chasing new lines.

Designed for any surf conditions — our boards can be ridden in the smallest, generally unrideable, surf right through to clean, powerful waves.

The craft

Shaped by hand, built to last

Every board is shaped by hand in our small workshop on the Gippsland coast using sustainably sourced paulownia and FSC-certified marine ply.

No two boards are identical. Each one carries the grain of the timber and the intention of the maker.

The Drop Alternative Surf Shop acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land, waterways and ocean on which we live, work and surf. We pay our respects to elders past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people today. We recognise that the ocean is not just a playground but it sustains life and is part of an ancient living culture. As surfers we honour the relationship between the First Nations people and the sea and acknowledge their custodianship of these costs for tens of thousands of years.
